Seventeenth edition of the UCR-FIFA-CIES International Course in Sports Management

The course is aimed at people who currently work in institutions related to sports, including Sports and Recreation Committees, Sports or Recreational Associations, Sports Clubs, Physical Fitness Centers, Gyms, Professional Associations, Solidarity Associations, Ministries, Personal Trainers and similar people. Aimed at developing content related to management in different modules, such as Administration, Communication, Finance, Law, Event Management, Marketing and Sponsorships, focused on the sports field, promoting discussions among students about the application of theory in the sports environment.

General information:

  • Name: UCR-FIFA-CIES International Course in Sports Management.
  • Organized by: University of Costa Rica in collaboration with FIFA and CIES (International Center for Sports Studies).
  • Course type: Bimodal Course: Initial face-to-face block, virtual modules (synchronous and asynchronous activities) and face-to-face closing block.
  • Duration: 7 months (from February 20 to September 27, 2025)
  • Starting session: three intensive days in person on February 20, 21 and 22.
  • Virtual sessions for the development of the modules: the contents of the modules are carried out virtually (with asynchronous and synchronous sessions), each module lasting 4 weeks, using the UCR Global platform (Moodle environment).
  • Closing session: three intensive in-person days on September 25, 26 and 27.
  • Virtual-synchronous sessions: They will be developed through the Zoom or Teams platform.

  • Location of in-person sessions: Crowne Plaza Corobicí Hotel, in Sabana Norte, San José,
  • Costa Rica. The place will be confirmed in advance to the admitted people.

 

Attendance:

The people who make up the 2025 edition of the Course must take into account that they must attend at least 85% of the face-to-face classes (or synchronous, in the case of virtual classes) to comply with the attendance requirement for the approval of the Course, according to the provisions of the Vice-Rector's Office for Social Action of the University of Costa Rica. Registration Process:

General Program of the 2025 Course.

The materials are available on the website of the School of Physical Education and Sports, in the course link (https://edufi.ucr.ac.cr/ED-2404) and on the official website of the course in Costa Rica (https://cursociesucr.wixsite.com/ucr-fifa).

The registration process consists of three stages:

  • Read the UCR Internal Regulations for the Course and the General Program 2025 (attached)
  • Complete and submit the digital form using the following link - Registration form
  • Interview.

 

Sending the Registration Form

    The first stages of the registration process include reading the General Program of the 2025 Course and the Internal Regulations, as well as completing and sending the digital registration form with the requested information. Please note that you must read the Program and Regulations before filling out the form.

    The link to the form will be available on the official website of the School of Physical Education and Sports (www.edufi.ucr.ac.cr) and on the official website of the course in Costa Rica (https://cursociesucr.wixsite.com/ucr-fifa). Also, it can be found available on the official Facebook of the course (www.facebook.com/curso.ucr.fifa), or you can request the link by email to the address: cursociesucr@gmail.com.

    For the 2025 Edition, the period for receiving forms (registration process) begins on November 11 and will close on November 30, 2024.

    An interview will be scheduled for the people from the first 75 forms received, as long as they meet the general requirements established in the general course program. There will be a waiting list of 15 forms, if it is possible to schedule more interviews. Therefore, a total of 90 forms are received.

     

    Interview
     

    The second stage is to carry out an interview with the CIES representative and the Course coordinators. Each form is reviewed to confirm that the person meets the minimum requirements (minimum training equivalent to a high school diploma, holding a position in institutions, associations, federations, companies linked to sports, or having some type of connection with them or with the world of sports in general and showing interest in sports, its management and administration).

    If the minimum requirements are met, each person will eventually be contacted at the email address indicated on the form, to coordinate the date and time of the interview. Please write your email address correctly in the application form, as it is the official means of communication for the course. The interviews will be held on Tuesday the 14th, Wednesday the 15th and Thursday the 16th of January from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, virtually (through the Zoom platform).
