When a student needs to validate a course taken at the University of Costa Rica, for another that belongs to the study plan of the Bachelor's Degree in Human Movement Sciences, they must submit a letter of petition to the School's administration in order to carry out the corresponding study.

Every semester the school holds a contest to award hours to students who wish to collaborate in both practical and theoretical courses, previously chosen by the administration.
The following are the requirements to obtain assistant hours:
- To have passed the first year of studies.
- To consolidate registration of at least 9 credits. For designations in the III academic year, the consolidated academic load of the previous academic year will be taken into account.

- An annual GPA equal to or higher than 7.5.
- Have passed the course in which the collaboration is to be provided.
- To have filled out the attached application form.

Students interested in enrolling in a course under the tutoring modality must submit a letter of request to the school's administration (on previously informed dates). The request must justify the interest in registering a course under this modality, duly signed by the interested party and include the approval of the professor who will provide support during the study cycle.

Important: It will not be possible to apply for tutoring courses regularly opened in a school term.

Requirements for tutoring registration:
- To be registered and in active status in the major that imparts the study plan to which the course to be registered belongs.
- Be up to date with student financial obligations.
- The course to be registered must belong to the study plan of the major in which the student is enrolled.
- Have passed the academic prerequisites of the course(s) to be enrolled.
- The course to be registered must not be registered for sufficiency or any other modality in the same academic term.

Students interested in enrolling in a proficiency mode course must submit a letter of application to the school's administration (on previously informed dates). The application must justify the interest in enrolling in a course under this modality, signed by the interested party and include the approval of the professor who will provide support during the study term.
Important: A proficiency application is made only if you have the necessary knowledge to pass the course, such applications are not authorized to attend on-site classes (applies when a course is open on a regular basis).

Requirements to register proficiency:
- To be enrolled, and in active status, in the major that imparts the course to be registered.
- Be up to date with student financial obligations.
- The course to be enrolled in must belong to the study plan of the degree program to which the student is registered.
- Have approved the academic requirements of the course(s) to be enrolled.
- The course to be enrolled must not be registered for tutoring or any other modality in the same academic term. An exception to this case is made for students who have withdrawn their registration.
- That the enrollment of the course is done for the first time, under the mechanism of sufficiency.

The student population may pass, at most, 50% of the courses of their major by proficiency, subject to what is established by each academic unit.

According to Article 27 of the Reglamento de Régimen Académico Estudiantil, the interruption is the total or partial authorized pause of the courses, for a minimum period of one semester and a maximum of one calendar year, extendable, in justified cases, for up to one more year. The IT is granted when there are duly proven force majeure causes.

Procedure for requesting a study interruption:

- Write a letter to the school's administration, explaining the reason why you cannot continue with your studies, specifying whether it is a total or partial interruption, as well as indicating the exact date on which you are requesting the interruption, and at what time you wish to reinstate your studies. For this purpose, you must submit the necessary documentation to support the request.

- Enrolled courses will be recorded with an IT or ITP, which will be modified by the grade earned upon reinstatement. DO NOT RE-ENROLL COURSES THAT APPEAR WITH IT or ITP.
If an extension of the interruption is required, the request must be resubmitted at least one week before the end of the first interruption.

Important: A partial interruption will be authorized only for some of the following situations:

- Health conditions that merit a lower academic load (present health proof that specifically indicates that the student must carry a lower academic load than the one initially enrolled).

- Situations in which the student must work to contribute financially to their family group (proof from the employer, indicating the exact date on which they began to work).

According to article 2, paragraph i of the Regulations for the recognition and equivalency of studies completed in other institutions of higher education, equivalency is defined as the equivalence of courses approved in other institutions of higher education for courses within the current curriculum of a degree program at the University of Costa Rica.

The procedure for the equalization of state courses must be done at the Recognition area of the Registrar's Office. For more information you can check the following link https://ori.ucr.ac.cr/reconocimientos
